Since I don't eat burger buns, I'm always looking for new burger flavors since I'm focused more on the actual patty. This is my version of Eden Grinshpans's Beef Kebab Burger from her book Eating Out Loud.
BURGER INGREDIENTS:
- 1lb ground beef
- 1lb ground lamb
- 1/2 yellow onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 c fresh mint, finely chopped
- 1/4 c fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 2tbs toasted pine nuts (toast in sauté pan)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- small pinch of cinnamon
- salt and pepper to taste
In a large bowl, mix all burger ingredients together and form patties, approximately 1in thick.
Heat grill until hot, and sear for about 3-4 minutes. Depending on "done-ness," I like mine brown all the way through, flip and let burgers sit for another 5 minutes. Once burgers are done, pull them off grill and let sit before creating burger stack.
I used homemade flatbread for my base, then homemade hummus, lettuce, cucumbers, Greek Burger Patty, tahini, parsley, then some spicy sauce on top!
